How does the fomo referral code work?

On fomo, a referral code is simply the referrer's username, and every user's referral link has the form fomo.family/r/username. When you open a referral link before registering, or type the code in the referral field on the sign-up screen, the account is tied to that referrer and you get the 10% fee discount.

What does the code actually give you?

A permanent 10% discount on trading fees: 0.50% becomes 0.45%. That is the only discount fomo documents for referred users. Pages promising 50% or 100% off, cash bonuses or airdrops for a code are not describing anything fomo publishes.

What does the referrer get?

The referrer earns a share of the trading fees their invitees pay (fomo's standard referral share is reported at 25%). That is a conflict of interest, and it is why every link to fomo on this site is marked as an affiliate link. Never trade more because a code exists. Read our affiliate disclosure.

Where do I enter the code?

On the sign-up screen, after choosing email, Apple or Google login, there is a field for a referral code. Enter maxama exactly. The easiest way is to open the link first on the device you'll use, so the code is pre-filled.

I already signed up without a code. Can I add it?

There is no field in the app to add a code later. Third-party guides report that fomo support can attach a referrer you missed: Profile → Settings → Help and Support → Contact Support. It is at support's discretion.

Is there a fomo promo code or invite code?

They are the same thing. fomo has one referral field; promo, invite and ref codes all go there and all give the same 10%.

Is the discount worth it? A worked example

Say you trade $500 per buy. At 0.50% each buy or sell costs $2.50; at 0.45% it costs $2.25, a saving of $0.25 per trade. Over 100 trades (50 round trips) that is $25. Below about $190 per trade the roughly $0.95 minimum fee applies, and it is not documented whether the 10% discount reduces the minimum, so small traders may see little or no saving. Why do so many sites push different codes?

Because every fomo username works as a code and the referrer earns a share of fees, the web is full of pages each promoting their own username. All working codes give the same 10%. There is no 'better' code; any page claiming its code gives more is wrong. Pick one, use it at sign-up, and move on.

How to check the code was applied

After sign-up, make a small trade and look at the fee line on the confirm screen. With a code the rate should be 0.45% (for trades above the minimum). If it shows 0.50%, contact support before you trade much more, so they can attach the referrer while the account is new.

Common mistakes

Registering first and looking for a code later; typing the code with a typo; opening the link on a laptop but signing up on a phone (open it on the device you use); and believing pages that promise cash sign-up bonuses or airdrops for a code, which fomo does not publish.

Can you change your referral code later?

Third-party guides that cite fomo's help centre say a code cannot be changed once it is tied to an account. Choose before you register.

Can I refer myself?

No. fomo's Terms of Service (section 8) ban self-referral, multiple accounts and coordinated referral schemes, and allow fomo to claw back rewards and suspend accounts for it.

Is there a separate affiliate programme?

Yes. Besides the in-app referral that every user gets, fomo runs an application-based affiliate programme at fomo.family/affiliates for creators and publishers, with a dashboard and tiered bonuses. Its tier rates are not published.

Worked savings with code maxama

Platform fee only, at 0.50% per side, about $0.95 minimum. Network, priority and pool fees and price impact come on top. The fomo minimum is assumed unchanged by the discount (not documented).

The saving only appears above the minimum fee. For someone trading $1,000 per round trip, 10% off 0.50% is $1.00 saved per round trip.

Referral code vs affiliate programme

Every fomo user has a referral link automatically. Separately, creators and publishers can apply to fomo's affiliate programme for a dashboard and tiered bonuses. Both use the same fomo.family/r/ link format; the discount for the person signing up is the same 10%.

What to do if the discount doesn't show

Check the confirm screen of a trade above about $190 (below that the minimum fee hides the discount). If it shows 0.50%, contact support from the app early and ask them to attach the referrer.

Troubleshooting sign-up

If the link opens the store but the code field is empty, type maxama manually. If you already installed the app before opening the link, the link may not pass the code; type it. Codes are case-sensitive in some apps, so copy it exactly.

Account security checklist

Use a unique password and app-based two-factor authentication on the email or Apple/Google account you log in with. Never share login codes or private keys with anyone, including people claiming to be support. Is it ethical to use a referral code?
